Wisdom, Prays For Her Mommy!

Story #9 One winters day Mommy was setting at her computer working very hard on another children’s book. She was having a very hard time coming up with ten new stories by her deadline, when in walked Wisdom with her favorite toy, Mr. Floppy. “Hi, mommy! What are you doing?” “Hi, sweetie. Mommy’s trying to work on some more new stories.” “Are they about me?” “Huh?” “Mommy, are they still about me?” “Huh, what? Yes, yes, Wisdom, they are.” “Can I read it mommy?” “What?!?” “Can I read it?” “Wisdom, mommy’s under a lot of pressure right now. So, please let mommy work.” “But, I just wanted to read it.” “Wisdom!” Yells Mommy, “Go play in your room!” Wisdom’s eyes fill with tears as clings tightly to Mr. Floppy and leaves. Mommy was too busy to notice the hurt in Wisdom’s eyes. Wisdom walked to the family room where grandma was reading the daily paper. She needed someone to explain why Mommy was so mean to her. “Grandma?” “Hey, precious flower!” “Nana, mommy just yelled at me.” “Are you sure, Wisdom?” Asked Grandma as she put her paper aside. “Yes, I’m sure. I just wanted to read the story she was working on and she yelled at me.” “Wisdom, come sit on grandma’s lap. Now listen to me, I’m sure mommy didn’t mean to yell at you. Your mommy’s under a lot of stress about the books she’s writing.” “I know, but she hurt my feelings.” “Sweetie, I will have a talk with her and I’m sure she will apologize.” “She will?!?” “Sure! See, she’s your mommy, but I’m her mommy!” Then Grandma and Wisdom laughed and hugged. Once Wisdom left the family room she went to her bedroom. Once inside she started playing with her toys and God decided it was a prefect time to have a talk with her. “Wisdom, my treasure?” “Yes, God?” “I know it hurt you when your mommy yelled at you.” “Yes, it did.” “I’m glad your grandma saw fit to comfort you.” “Me too!” “But, there’s something you could do for your mother.” “Huh? But she yelled at me!” “I know this, but if you pray for her that would help with her stress and allow for her to concentrate on her work.” “Who me? Pray for a grown-up?!?” “Yes, children should always pray for their parents.” “You mean prayer isn’t just for stuff you want, it’s for others too?!?” “That’s right. Hypocrites teach to only pray for themselves. But My word specifically says pray for everything. Therefore, that includes parents.” “Wow, you mean my prayers could help mommy!” “That’s right.” “Wow!” “God, I promise before I goto sleep tonight, I will include mommy in my prayers!” “That would be fine.” Later that afternoon, Mommy came into Wisdom’s room wanting to apologize. “Wisdom, can we talk?” Asked Mommy as she took a seat on Wisdom’s bed. “Sure, mommy.” “Come sit next to me. There’s something I need to say to you.” “What mommy?” “Mommy owes you an apology. I’m so sorry I yelled at you, Wisdom. Mommy’s under a lot of stress--but that’s no excuse for my yelling at you. I just want you to know I was wrong and very sorry.” “Oh, that’s ok mommy. I understand.” “So you forgive me?” “Of course I do!” “Well, can I have a then!” And they embrace. Mommy was about to leave when Wisdom called to her again. “Mommy, tonight I’m going to pray for you.” “What?!?” “Yeah, God says we should pray for everything and that includes parents.” “Well, God’s Word does say that. Baby, mommy truly appreciate your prayers. And you know what?” “What?” “I always pray for you!” Wisdom gasped as Mommy walked out the room. Later that night we find Wisdom knelt beside her bed in prayer. “Dear God, tonight I’m going to pray for mommy. God, mommy needs your help, she’s under a lot of stress ‘cause she needs to write some books. So please God, help her find a way to write her books so we can spend more time together and so she won’t be so stressed.” Wisdom was just about to get up when she remember one last prayer she needed to add, “Oh yeah God, mommy yelled at me today, but she didn’t mean to. So God, please forgive her, I did! Amen.” The next morning Wisdom went into the den to find Mommy on the phone. “Oh that’s great, Tom! I really could use the extra time to finish the books! Thanks, goodbye!” “Mommy who was that?” “Sweetheart, that was mommy’s publicist and guess what?” Mommy asked with such glee. “What mommy?” “Mommy’s publishing company is giving her two extra weeks to work on the books!” Grandma walked in just in time to her the good news. “That’s wonderful news, sweetheart!” Adds Grandma. “Thanks, ma.” Replies Mommy. “That’s good, right mommy!” “Good, is right! And guess what else?” “What, mommy?” “Last night around mid-night, God blessed me with all sorts of ideas for books to write! Look I’ve written five books already!” Mommy holds up a stake of papers to show both her mother and Wisdom. “Wow, mommy, that’s great!” “Wisdom, I know you prayed for me last night, ‘cause look at all these wonderful blessing God gave me!” “I sure did!” “And with all the extra time mommy has left; I’ll be able to spend more time with you and write more books! !” “That’s great, mommy! See, God does answer prayers!” And mommy and Wisdom embrace and since Mommy’s no long under stress, the three of them talked the whole morning long. And as Wisdom said, “God does answer prayers.” The End.
